As of last year if I get 27 on the listening and 31 on the reading I will likely get an A* :smile: obviously I'm aiming for more (36/40 and 39/45) but whatever gets me an A* would be lovely!

Your numbers are definately incorrect - from a total of 300 UMS, 90 are for reading, your two best coursework pieces, 90 are for speaking, your two best pieces, 60 are for reading and 60 are for listening. You need a combined total UMS score of 270 out of a possible 300 for an overall A star, 240 for an A and 210 for a B, 180 for C etc. Those grades of B and C wouldn't give UMS numbers that high, sorry.

I havent seen the french test because i did my french gcse last year when it was easy haha but im hoping that spanish isn't too different from last year - they cant introduce new vocabulary yet, right, despite the apparent changes in biology yesterday lol

I'm also doing spanish gcse next year, probably what im looking forward to the most


Must have got confused I'll ask my teacher today :smile:

For some reason, in every French past paper, there are no (a) or (b) subcategories. There may be up to 7 or 8 separate questions in a section. Whereas in Spanish, each section has the same number but a different letter.
Also, it is worth mentioning that I found a section in (what I remember as being) the French 2014 reading paper which was identical (word for word but translated) in a Spanish paper (which I think was a year before).

Add all your CA marks up and divide by 2. That is what you got combined in all of your CA's out of 60. To get an A*, in the final 40, you need to be getting a mid B (considering you got 100% in the CA's). If you total out of 60 is less than 50, it is impossible to get an A*. If it is less than 40, it is impossible to get an A. If it is less than 30, it is impossible to get a B.

Remember that last year's grade boundaries were 4-5 marks lower than 2015's because the paper was harder. AQA could make the paper easier this time round.

I got a high A in writing and A* in listening, so I'm hoping that the exams go well for me and I get that A* (been revising vocab for months now). Anyone else worried the most about listening?
Any predictions what topics might come up?

Nope I found it myself. If you go on the AQA website for the new specification (should say from assessment in 2018) and go into sample assessment material it's there :smile:

Yep!! It sucks because unlike reading you can't go back and look over it a lot if you're not sure. Just twice hearing and then BOOM it's gone. I do French as well - the exam was yesterday and some of the listening was said so quickly! If you've ever been to a foreign country and turned on the radio/TV and been horrified by the speed that's pretty much what some of them were like. Much quicker than any of the past papers I did at school, bet it's because of Michael Gove wanting everyone to be "above average" :colonhash:
I can't believe it's tomorrow! I'm going to do 2 listenings and 2 readings tonight as well as familiarise myself with the key vocabulary again :smile: first I must get through my exam today 😒 what is everyone else doing for revision?
