Are dynamic linked libraries a form of re-entrant code?

Another question, what is the point of index, base register addressing? Why do you need a vector to be added to the base address? Why not just have the address?

i suppose in a way they could be as they do reduce process time and all that but im not sure it would be by definition. im not certain tbh

index register instructions tend to be used with arrays and things like that

bas eregisters tend to be used for situations like with virtual memory where a block of code may get relocated as the portion of the program gets shuffled in and out of main memory - all that then needs to happen is that the base register is adjusted.
