1 Hi for question 2d) for paper 2 in this document, it is near the middle of the document( apologies for that). The question asks how to investigate the density of the stomata on the plant. here is the mark scheme: -Cover top surface of leaf with Vaseline / grease on one plant and bottom surface of leaf on another (1) By another do they mean another plant? If so the question mentioned earlier that only one plant shoot is investigated though -Calculate the rate of water uptake for both (1)- both leaves on two different plants or just leaves on the same plant? -Rate of water uptake would be lower when lower surface is covered as this is where most stomata are (1) - how are you supposed to know that the most stomata are on the lower surface of the leaf because the question does not state that the plant is a xerophyte....
I understand why they are covering the leave but I just don't get why they use two plants to test it, instead of justing using the same plant.
