3rd year Law undergrad -need help working out overall grade needed

Hi guys.
My final exam (family law) is on Thursday and is worth 60% of the overall module.

I had coursework in the module which was worth 40 of the module and I got 78%.
Just wondering what I would need to get in my upcoming exam to get a 1st or a 2:1.

No idea how to work it out.
Thanks in advance

Your overall grade is
0.4*78 + 0.6*exam

That means your exam grade required is (0.4*78)/0.6 = 52%

Edit: ignore this I'm a muppet.

I make it that the OP needs 48% to get a 2.1 and 64.67% to get a First.

Is correct

And 52% is doable if you put in a good level of effort - they might also have a couple of points margin of appreciation i.e. 1 or 2% might be added on. Personally, I'd be extremely pissed off if I got a 2:2 (even though this is acceptable for some firms and post grad courses) and would be very happy with a 2:1 but that is just me. A 1st would be a an ecstatic result for me but being realistic, I am not aiming and don't expect to be nearing a 1st.

I'm just glad someone was on the ball and picked up on it (and wasn't afraid to tell me!)
