Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016

What did everyone get when substituting their x value into the 2nd differential to show it was a minimum point? (very last question part e)

I got a really small decimal??
I got 0.437 for my second derivative!! did you get something like that??

for K
it told you that blah blah blah
so you used what you worked out for the binomial expansion, times by the 1+kx
and then you put the x^2 ones equal to eachother, the x's cancel out and you can solve for k
Ah ok thanks. I did part of what you said - just didn't get up to the part where you solve it.
3. Who got remainder 5 for the factor theorem question

The stress and pressure of being in the actual exam hall is very different from doing past papers at home.

Good luck with the rest of your exams
you too

Who got remainder 5 for the factor theorem question
Yes I did!
7. I found C1 A LOT easier than this C2 Paper. Not saying C1 was easy but I found that I could answer more.

For the final parts of the binomial expansion, b c and d I reckon I messed up D somewhere.

The second logs question I messed up too but I reckon I would get a method mark at least

Sheep pen messed me up especially finding the equations, I got somewhere close but the odd number wouldn't factorise nicely.

Yes I did!
2 marks secured! Yay!

Guys it asked for P not x, so 17 is wrong because you had to substitute in x=16.633 and then you get 120 to the nearest metre

Yeah, that what I got, then for the 2nd differential it was like 0.4....

Just do well in the S1 exam and did you think you did well in c1? You could still scrape an A
Think I managed an A in core 1, we do decision 1 and it's on the 17th of June so I guess I have a lot of time to revise for it. Hoping my examiner is generous with method marks on that C2 paper

I got 0.4 something. What about you?

I subbed in 2^x = y to give my 32y^2-7y=0 then solved for y=0,7/32. 2^x cannot = 0 and 2^x=7/32 giving x = -2.19

Spell it out for me clearer.

2^(2x+5) -7(2^x)=0

Let 2^x=y

so 7(2^x)=7y

how do you do the 2^(2x+5)

SAME
14. That was so easy😂
Expect grade boundries to be high.
You must be stupid to have not got at least 70+

I found the exact same 3 hard/didn't know how to do them, and found core 1 much easier than that.

You know you ****ed up the Log question when you get that good ol' math error plastered across your screen )))))))))))
16. Probably need 60+ marks on S1 to scrape a C overall

Completely agree with you. Congratulations.
YES

wat?

it wasn't small decimal....

x was 17m to the nearest meter what did you get?
That was for the first deferential. The second one was to prove it was a minimum; and yes it was a small decimal of 0.4 something. Being that as it is, it proves it is the minimum value.

Oh you do D1 instead of S1. Yeah you have a while to go to revise. You should be fine! You have nothing to loose now

I'm going to guess that the grade boundaries are going to be similar to last year or maybe slightly lower because it was a bit harder (in my opinion) than last year so its not a lost cause yet.
