Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016
1. Answers to edexcel m2 uk paper
1 a) 4ms-2 b) 11/3
2) P =4900 R = 784 d= 53.1
3) c= 10/3
4) x =0.83m, angle 113.6
5) a) friction = (5gdsinthetacostheta)/4
Reaction= (5g/4)(4-dcos^2theta)
b) d = 2.56m
6)a) lambda = 30/7 b) speed 10.4 angle 73.6
7) a) Va = 3u/20 Vb = 21u/10 b) e=1/14 c) no since moving at same speed in same direction
2. (Original post by The_Big_E)
I got all the same answers except for c which i got as (5root2)/3 which is probably wrong.

Oh and for the first question I got a = 4
HOLD UP! Same! For c and a! Holly **** ive never been more glad to read somebody else's answers 😂😊
3. My answers:
Q1) Acceleration: 4 ms^-2 (p = 2, q = -8)
Distance = 11/3 m

Q2) R = 784
P = 4900
d = 58.1 m

Q3) c = 10/3

Q4) Distance below AD = 0.830
Couldn't work out the angle

Q5) R = 5g - something cos^2theta
F = something * dg*costheta*sintheta

d = ~1.94

Q6) lambda = 30/7
v = 10.4 ms^-1
73.3 degrees below horizontal

Q7) e = 1/14
No collision because they're moving the same speed in the same direction
4. What was 1b actually telling you to do? I thought just the distance travelled when t=3 but didn't understand the wording
5. (Original post by fghj1)

The distance travelled between t=2 and t=3.

Same, i found the wording confusing. I think its the distance traveled between t=2 and t=3 ? Thats what i did anyway ?
8. For 1b wasn't it 15??
9. Unofficial Markscheme:

These were mine (didnt see someone else posted)

-----------------

I saved my answers

4
23/3 distance

4900 and 784 for P and R
53.1 distance after engine switched off

10/3 for value of c

1.04 for distance from AD.
161°

Didnt save the long expressions, take moments at A and resolve vert and horiz. Yiu generate P from m(A) and you sub that back in to R(up) and R(-->
d=2.56 (I changed this last minute, made a mistake) --moments question

4.3 for speed? 163° bearing

Speed of A 3/20u (left)
Speed of B 21/20u (right)
e=1/14
They do not collide as rebound velocity is 3/20u
10. Looking back I got the exact same as nitromeguy except I may have put 5 for a, I'm not sure as I did the calculations on a different calculator. I think I may have just taken away the wrong number and only have -1. Relief

Edit: never mind I did get 4 haha, my coefficients added together to get 5. So 2t^2-8t+11 for v. Anyone else?
Edit 2: **** I also forgot to square root 109 for speed. I also got 73.3 for the angle of the velocity at A.
11. Anybody remember how many marks was each question worth?
12. (Original post by Mattematics)
The distance travelled between t=2 and t=3.
Should be between 3&4?

**** no im wrong! Ffs i did 3&4
13. (Original post by cjlh)
Lambda was 42/g, another person in my class I asked got this too. This is 30/7 but if you gave it without g it had to be to 3sf.

For centre of mass I got the distance from 0 in terms of pi and the distance from AD was 0.830. I just checked and the angle was actually 114, you're right.

The first question I got 5 for a.

c was 10/3.

The last question e was 1/14 and the speeds were 3/20 u and 21/10 u.

I have a load of values in my calculator but can't remember the questions so if you wanna say what you got I can check with mine. Not sure how accurate I was overall lol
I agree with all of this. For q 1, p=2, q=-4, r=11
The distance was 11/3
14. (Original post by CALI1198)
Should be between 3&4?
0-1 is 1st second.
1-2 is 2nd second.
2-3 is 3rd second.

Should be between 3&4?
The first would've been 0-1 so 3rd 2-3
16. (Original post by K2Cr2O7)
0-1 is 1st second.
1-2 is 2nd second.
2-3 is 3rd second.
Yup I got my fingers out just now and counted. FML haha

I did the same mistake... Remember how many marks was this question worth? Part a was 8 but part b?

Got all the same , just one thing, the angle in 6b is 73.3 I think , a typo may be?
