Hi, I got the nexplanon contaceptive implant in on the 15th of last month and since then I've felt awful. I haven't been sure if this is due to the implant itself, or complications with penicillin prescribed for tonsillitis that I contracted on the 13th (I had an allergic reaction but it died down around the 6th of this month).

I feel really lethargic, have a sore throat, wobbly legs, headaches, minor constipation issues and very anxious. I also caught a cold around the 6th where I lost my voice and coughed up a storm for a week or so.

My periods have been pretty consistent, albeit a lot heavier and shorter. Has anyone else had issues like this with the implant within the first few months? I'm just sick of being sick.

Some of that sounds a lot like a reaction to the antibiotic / the throat issues leading to a cold, but the period stuff is not uncommon and should settle down in a month or two.

Have you ever used hormonal contraception before?
