Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016

I am hoping to got to Oxford in September and I was wondering if anyone knew roughly how much work I would get during the christmas holiday after my first term at Oxford? Will I be able to plan a holiday?

    Congrats on your offer!

I think that since terms start well into October, they're really short, and because it is a really good Uni, then almost all your time can be expected to be spent in study. Whatever you plan to do on your holidays, I would suggest that it should be done, because that's probably the only time that you'll be on a holiday without having to study. I once read a booklet on studying in Oxford, and it stated that students will be expected to continue their study during their holidays, although you won't be expected to read as much.

BTW, which college gave you the offer? Just curious.

Well let me share what my friend who also got an offer from Oxford told me. She said the students said they are not holidays because they are 'vacations' as you are expected to vacate the college but still do work. Also, you have exams just before you come back from the holidays to make sure you did work in the 'vacations'. Although, if you do enough work over the course of the year, that would allow you the flexibility to have a holiday

Thanks for your replies. I'll never think of vacations in the same way again. In answer to your question, I got an offer from Balliol.
