Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016
1. (Original post by mirah01)
yeah thats the right way to do it, just solve it a little more and make y the subject
Yeaaa do you got (4x)times(square root 1/65) ?

So excited right now omg

haha I can't wait for 4HR, i enjoyed this paper!
5. (Original post by mirah01)
I got 16x/65
6. It was something like ..

y/(y+x) = (4/9)^2
y/(y+x) = 16/81
Cross Multiply ;
81Y = 16X + 16Y
(81-16)y = 16X
65Y=16X
Y=16X/65
7. omg is that i misread the question i thought the area was y^2 (smaller triangle )and x^2

Y was the area of the small triangle. X was the area of quadrilateral. So total area was (x+y)

I was like
(4/9)^2= y^2 / (x^2 + y ^2 )
the scale factor was 2.25
so you just do

y^2 = x^2 / 2.25^2

which is =

y^2 = x^2 / 5.0625

then you square root that so you get

y= √(x / 5.0625)

isnt that right? what'd you do?
11. there was an inequality question too. values were -2, -1, 0, 1 ,2

for the question with two similar shapes, first answer was 16.25cm

and the question of functions,
f(0.5) = 0.2
ff(-1) = 0.2
inverse of x / 3x+1 = -3x + 1

thats all i can remember from my answers
12. Where did you get 4/9 from? Isn't the scale factor 2.25?

There's a formulae you use for these type of questions it's
Area1/area2=lenght1^2/lenght2^2

It's essentially the same thing your saying. Just a different method - he did 4/9 and y/y+x
But if you do 9/4 you get 2.25 which is your scale factor

Are there any more questions?
15. What did you get for the histogram question?
16. (Original post by mirah01)
What did you get for the histogram question?
I think it was 35, Not really sure though i don't remember
17. I looked at the unofficial mark scheme, and I think I got 77/100. I asked my Maths teacher and he said if I get that again in the calculator paper, then I'll get an A!

What are you talking about bro? this is a discussion about an IGCSE not GCSE ..

Guys can you be a bit more interactive so we can make a marking scheme out of this discussion?
