Is anyone doing Auden ASWELL as Blake tomorrow?

If so, any pointers on how to compare the two poets?

Yeah I did. The questions where rather generous this year. With the reader/ language question you basically had to identify the fact that while Blake was able to compose his ideas usually within 4 stanzas, Auden uses a much more elongated form. However at the same time you must point out the different audience both poets where appealing too. The fact that Auden was much more political than spiritual meant his ideas where much more about discussion than Blake whose poems could be interpreted as songs (Giving the title of the text Songs of Innocence and Experience) thus their simpler structure. They both appeal to modern readers not only because of their language use but due to their ability to express different ideas (spiritual Blake, political Auden) within their ability to switch metres in the middle of their poetry. Switching metres is meant very popular in contemporary poetry.

Hopefully this has made some sense.

I used poems such as Echoing Green,The Garden of Love, The Tyger and London for Blake. For Auden it was Refugee Blues, Unknown Citizen and Law Like Love.
