Effort in conversation

Why bother with a post grad course - waste of time? 17-10-2016

Why do I always have to make the effort into the conversation?
Recently I started to notice that I put all the effort to keep the conversation flowing with everyone, including flatmates, family and some friends. It's strange, for example, I will have a conversation with one person and that person seems uninterested. Then that same person will have the same conversation with other person and seems interesting, by carrying on with the conversation or making more effort.
I'm not sure what it is. People say I'm quiet, but I'm only quiet if I don't feel the other person is making the effort. Can someone please tell me what to do!
    Thank you.
