moving from gcse to alevel maths

hi
what is the minimum grade that a person can get in gcse to be accepted for a level maths ????
You'll need a B in GCSE maths minimum but but I'd say don't do it if you vacant be bothered to put the work in, that's where your grades are determined, I know people who got A* at GCSE but failed to make it to year 13 maths

It depends on the school. While theirs required a B, my school required an A for Maths so check with your school.

More and more colleges and sixth forms require an A for a level maths.

My school only requires an A for further maths, guess they are behind the times.

We require A for maths and A* for further maths. I should point out that my school specialises in maths so you'd expect us to have higher requirements.

Ive heard some people saying that their schools need like 95% over both GCSEs papers.

Our college required a B but they heavily advised people with a B to consider switching to use of maths as the pass rate for those who got a B at GCSE tends to be very low
A Level maths is a lot less about having to remember information and tactics and more about actually understanding the method you're using, being able to adapt it to different situations. I think, even if you have god an A at GCSE, it's worth taking into account how hard you worked for it and whether it's just because you have a good memory or whether you actually get it.
Unfortunately for me, It turned out that my memory was not enough! Haha :laugh:
