I remember every time I had my braces tightened I couldn't eat for several days. I didn't take any painkillers tho, I just had to deal with. As for food I had stuff like smoothies, soup, mash etc.

It's so much fun, you should try it again, tbh i'm not taking any painkillers either xD i'm too lazy
no pain, no gain just think of how amazing your teeth will look
