AEA English

Seems to be a lot of new threads about the various modules taking place atm, so I thought why not start up one for the AEA!

So, who's going to be sitting the exam then?

What preparation, if any, have you all made?

I've just looked at a few areas of theory that look interesting to me- namely Structuralism and Narratology, by way of Propp, Genette and Lodge. It's been fun stuff! Looking forward to discussing it in relation to other texts now. The A-Level exams are far too limited in their structure- jump through a couple of hoops and you get a good grade. Eurgh. Anyway, I digress.

There's a couple of threads on it here and here.

I'm 110% with you about the hoop jumping of A-level English, but I won't elaborate else we could be here all night. Suffice to say I'm taking the AEA too and it looks great fun. I'm not doing any preparation though, as I think the whole point is that it tests you as you are, a product of the A-level course, and if I'm not well-versed in theories now, then I certainly won't be by this time next week. I'm not finished with exams 'til Tuesday, anyway.
