AQA Biology B2 - fossils

Do you need to know the steps of fossilisation? Eg: 1) sea creature is alive then dies
2) the sea creature sinks to sea bed
3) soft parts rot away, hard shell left over etc...

Or just what is a fossil, how they are formed and what the limitations of fossil evidence are?

the lot, u need to know all of it, but if you cant i wouldnt worry too much because is rarely more than 1-2 marks on the whole topic hope that helps
