BTEC level 3 extended diploma in Engineering project. Urgent help required

Urgent help required. My son is currently at the end of year 2 BTEC extended diploma in Engineering. The college has not been following the timetable correctly and now he has 3 weeks to complete the project on top of all the other assignments. Neither of us understand what is being asked due to trying to rush it. Does anyone have an example we can use as a template. The college uses "turn it in' to check for plagiarism so it will not be a cut and paste job. Thus far he has D*D* so I don't want him to fall at the final hurdle.
