I graduated last year with a first degree in BA Illustration. My university allows students to progress onto a masters degree for free (as a bursary) if they achieved a first - but they cannot defer entry, they must accept the place and continue immediately. I took up the offer because I felt that it was a fantastic opportunity to further my education, as I would not be able to afford the fees for a postgraduate course on my own. However, as of now, student finance can now fund masters degrees. This wasn't available last year when I accepted the place.
I do not feel like the masters has prepared me for work at all. After a lot of thought, I want to go on to train as an Art and Design teacher, which will require a PGCE. Can I get funding for a PGCE after completion of my masters? Or do I have to drop the masters and switch to a PGCE instead?
(I will graduate in November, so I at the moment I am still in the middle of study.)
Switching from Masters to PGCE?
