I applied for Student Finance, easy peasy, but because I'm an EU student I need to send a evidence and my EU passport covers it. The Student Finance website says that I need to send my original passport with the evidence cover letter, now does this mean they need my actual passport or just a photocopy?

"Original passport" sounds a lot like they want my passport posted to them but I'm a little bit scared of sending this because A) it is my only form of ID B) I'm going on holiday soon and need my passport C) what if it gets lost in the mail D) how long will they have it for because I'm looking for jobs at the moment as well and even employers need my passport for evidence that I am an EU national. So please tell me it's a photocopy they want?

Original means they want your actual passport. Have you phoned SFE and explained that you actually need your passport?
