# AQA A2 Mathematics Pure Core 4 MPC4 - 17th June 2016

Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016
1. 1) A = -5/2, B = 9/2
-1 + 7x - (22/3)x2
-1/2 < x < 1/2

2) x = 99.6, 206.4

3) p = 2/15
r = 1/3, s = 4/15

4) -3x + 2 + 9/(2x-3)
-69/2, 9/2

5) 330 days

6) cos = 13/35
(2, 0, -1)
C = (0, 10/3, -5/3) D = (4, -10/3, -1/3)

7) (1/2)e^4
y = e / (2sqrt(1-x))(1-ln(2sqrt(1-x)))

8) k = 6
sin3y - 3ycos3y - pi = (1/6)tan^(-1)(3x/2)
2. Can somone remember the x and y for the cartesian equation
3. (Original post by JPencil)
Can anyone remember the vectors question? I would like to do it again. Also C3: 66, C4: 72, safe A*?

If you're smart enough to get 66 in C3 and 72 in C4, you should be smart enough to look at the grade boundaries of the past papers :P (Yes it will be)
4. (Original post by Maphec)
woah, the highest C4 A* has ever been is 63... youre saying it went up by 9?
and 64 was the A* for last year, so it's definitely lower.
No no no, I apologise for the ambiguity; those are what I think I got, I was merely asking someone to confirm that would be an A*

simplified the algebraic expression incorrectly or simplified numerically incorrectly?
I'd say two for the first case and one for the second case because you'd usually get one for expression and one for final answer
I subbed into an unsimplified version of dy/dx and then rearranged incorrectly
6. (Original post by crimson1234)
I don't think there were anymore parts for question 5

There probably wasn't... where would you put those remaining three marks then?
7. (Original post by steph-carys)
Really confused as to why I got -42 +9/2ln3.....
I got the same

oh, definitely. 72 is probs 100 ums in c4 too, 66 will also be very high 90's as the grade boundaries are dropping by a lot
9. And also how many marks would i get for using the d theta/ dx for the last question instead of just 1/6tan^-1(3x/2)?? I got every other bit right ut obviously my c was wrong
10. did we have to find the actual angle between vectors?
11. (Original post by Maphec)

I'm glad to hear it, those grades will have to make up for the pitiful ums I'm likely to receive on D1

did we have to find the actual angle between vectors?
No, the question asked for the cosine of the angle, it was 13/35

13. what did people get for the point of intersection? i got lambda = 1 and mu = 1/2 but i think i put the wrong value into the wrong lines 1 or 2 marks lost there?
14. was this paper harder or easier than last years, what are your thoughts A* 63 A 57 B 52 C 42, higher or lower?
15. (Original post by olatee)
Can somone remember the x and y for the cartesian equation
C0balt sent someone the solution which has them both on at the top, it's on page 36

ugh dammit. How many lost for solving to find theta?

ugh dammit. How many lost for solving to find theta?
none, i did that too, i stated that costheta is 13/35 and then found theta
18. (Original post by Krithika256)
did we have to find the actual angle between vectors?
Find Cos(theta) of the acute angle in it's simplest form I believe.

I got something like 13/35?
19. grade prediction please? Also how did everyone find this paper? Thanks
20. these grade boundaries are in our dreams
(Original post by tanyapotter)
they'll be low but that low?
