I still don't get Mann Whitney or chi squared :/

Chi squared looks at paired data... But it compares expected patterns with observerd patterns
Mann u Whitney looks at impaired data (ranked)

They both want to see if there is a drastically relationship between the data they have observed.....

What tf was the first question? lol, at least its over. how did everyone do

what were the questions ?
What did people get for the last question?
I think I messed up the last question!
I think I wrote the right things for remote sensing but I didn't know what to include for GIS so I started talking about using the internet (I don't know why?) and mentioned briefly about using it for weather.
What do you think I would have got on that question?
I feel confident on the rest of the paper and I wanted to get an A* in geography overall.
Is it true that you only need 48 marks to get an A* on this exam?

I mostly just talked about how it was better understood in a real environment and put stuff in about plagioclimaxes to relate to the location, and summed up my hypotheses. I don't think the fieldwork questions were too bad, they could have been worse?

Although I had no idea what to put for the weather maps one, I just talked about the colour coding and the fact that the cold front was superimposed. And thank god I revised IT skills!
Didnt think it was that bad. First part was nice, for the last question i wrote obvs about GIS then about Data bases (cenus and environmental) for the other part using ICT skills

That last question... what on earth?! No one in my school was given much information on GIS and I didn't even know what that other part was. Really messed me up completely. Tried to blag it as much as possible, I thought GIS was satellite imaging so I talked about gathering accurate up to date data. Really screwed up. Anyone else find the last question bad?

There is nothing on GIS in the CGP A2-level Geogrpahy AQA revision guide?! Nothing

We'd only gone over it once - according to our teacher, remote data was satellite and photos, and GIS is that weird online maps thing. Gathering up to date data was probably a good one to mention, I talked about being able to get information on places that you can't access in person and related it a bit to my fieldwork.

will you get any credit for databases? it said remote sensing and gis :/
Idk whether they will give credit for data bases as that's a separate thing from GIS and remote sensing. For the last question I talked about remote sensing and how it helped us map the Ocean floor and helped Harry Hess to evolve the theory of palaeomagnetism and prove the theory of plate tectonics, I also talked about it being used for Google Earth. Then for GIS I did how it is used to map sloping so it can develop our understanding of terrains so it's useful for hydrology, I then talked about 'web mapping' and how that can give us a real time image of traffic and congestion. I didn't really know what to put as we hadn't covered it in class, would this be okay? (I wrote more in the exam but this is basically the kind of thing I discussed)
I wrote about databases and the google earth and topography etc but we got taught nothing on it, and it wasn't in the revision guide so some people didn't even have a clue.

It asked for remotely sensed data not databases or ict skills so that las tbit might be irrelevant, remotely sensed data is stuff like satellite photographs

GIS - I wrote only a little paragraph about GIS, I said that it included overlays and could be helpful to further understanding because geography is constantly changing and you can overlay data to see change over time and I linked a bit to my own investigation and gave some negatives on how it didn't further my knowledge because it required specialists and money
Remotely Sensed Data - I wrote about satellite photographs from google earth and how it helped in my investigation and linked it to other parts of the spec like using satellite photographs to find the density of slums in mumbai. I said we used it in our investigation to risk assess and it helped further my knowledge in some other random ways

Luckily our teacher taught us this bit, because it's such a small part it's mainly about bullsh*tting but I wrote about 2 and a bit pages

Databases and ICT skills could be linked in a minor way but are seperate topics of ICT use, so aren't completely relevant

i had absolutely no idea for the last question so i bluffed it and said how we could use contour line maps (irrelevant i know) to show the slope of mountainous areas to create hazard maps for flooding and volcanic hazards like lahars
do you think i will get any marks for mentioning hazard maps?

I mentioned hazards too! It's something that gis can definately be used for because it was in my techtonics case studies! I'm hoping that will get a few marks along with the other stuff I came up with! Hoping for at least 8/12 but honestly had never been taught that GIS :frown:
