I received a call from a company last week inviting me to an assessment center for a job. The assessment centre is next week. As a part of the call they asked when I would be available to start and I said immediately. There is a training period in this job for 4 months where I won't be able to take time off to go on holiday in the summer. After training I'll be working for 2 years in Asia so I wouldn't get much chance to see my family as I'll be based so far away and I'll be busy working
I had initially planned to go to Canada on holiday to visit my family, as I've never seen them before and this is the best time to visit them as I'm graduating next month. But I was being stupid and wasn't thinking straight and totally forgot :/
I guess I'm in a bit of a dilemma now because I think it's either the job (that I really want) or to see my family... What can I do?
How should I tell them that I would rather start in September/October?
Is it rude/bad practice to tell them that I am no longer available to start immediately as I had initially said?
This of course is if I get the job.
Said I was available for immediate start but changed my mind
