Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

Master in population health and epi. Advice needed.

Hello everyone. I am currently a medical doctor and will do the master programme in the UK. I get the offer from UCL population health and LSHTM epidemiology. I have difficulty choosing from these two. I know LSHTM has high reputation in public health field but not well known in my country. UCL has global reputation. Has anyone been in similar situation? really need advice and opinion. Thanks!

It depends on where you want to work and what field. If global reputation matters more over course and course content in your country and you want to work there then pick accordingly. Otherwise go with what interests you more.

Both unis have their strengths. LSHTM is strong in epidemiology, field work, quantitative work and ranked #1 in public health. UCL has the population institute. You need to look closer at your goals and academic interests. Study the syllabi and profs. Any areas you really want to specialise in? epidemiology and population are different areas.

UCL is better known to the general public. LSHTM is known to the professionals internationally and profs publish in medical journals.
