Think of a plum pudding - or a christmas pudding.
You've got the majority of it as cake, and then embedded with plums/raisins (I think?)

So, this was an OLD theory, and has been replaced by the Nuclear Model.

But the cake bit, which makes up the majority of the pudding - which is the atom - is a ball of positively charged material. Meanwhile the plums/raisins represent the negative electrons which were buried in it.
Hopefully this helps to explain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUJPyQtoB5E
