hello. I'm starting phd in a 'social science' field from 2016.
i am seriously considering to persue academic career in future but was rejected by my first choice university (Oxbridge or LSE equivalent).
I suppose there are many ppl like me in the uk universities... are there any advice for second-rated uni PhDs to upgrade him/herselves to survive academic job market in future?
(off course writing good thesis must be the first thing. but the issue is the criteria of 'good' or 'sufficient' slightly differs from each institutions: there is a risk of getting too narrow view only acceptable by limited groups of academics .)
