How are A level maths grades distributed?

I know that they take into account every ones' performance and then decide on grade boundaries but how much is the quota for people getting A's and B's does it work like this? 20% get A's top 30% get B's?

If you go down to maths, you will see the percentage of candidates who receive each grade. You can also look up results statistics for certain exam boards, I know Edexcel and AQA release theirs

Grades aren't given like that - they are criterion referenced ie the standard for certain grades is fixed.
