Which system is making better physicians academically?

Is it easy to study in the UK and come back to the US with acing the USMLE?

Can I get to the top residency programs in US with UK degree? Does my university have to be prestigious?A letter of recommendation in a UK University is better than studying in less popular country.

Does anyone know someone who studied in the UK and went to the US to a top residency program ?
Do they make it harder to get into because I hold a foreign medical degree?

The systems are very different and difficult to compare. The US is extremely interventionalist and you tend to run all the tests you can think of, whereas in the UK you only do tests if you need them and rely on physical examination a lot more.

A good example is prostate cancer screening - in the UK we determine that you're more likely to die with prostate cancer than from it, so no screening. Whereas in the states its culturally ingrained to the extent that people run charity events to raise awareness etc.

    So it's hard to know.

Yes they do. If you want to work in the states, you should study in the states, is what I understand.
