How competitive are MSc courses?

Why bother with a post grad course - waste of time? 17-10-2016

I'm interested in doing a MSc in mental health at the University of Manchester and spent a lot of time volunteering in my undergrad years. However, I received a low 2:1 at the University of Manchester and wondered whether that would affect my chances if the competition is high?

No - you only have to worry if you got a 2.2. A 2.1 is still a 2.1 low or high ! Your volunteering will also work in your favour !

Apply. MH isnt a highly competitive area and there wont be a pressure on places.

Getting an offer of a place for a Masters is usually the easy bit - its funding the course that is the competitive/hard bit, and is usually what ultimately stops many people doing postgrad, or delaying it until they can afford to do it.
