I'm using a desktop, removed the "https//:m." and replaced with "http://www." and yet still got a 404 error.
What's the Make/Model and so on for the Laptop? Link the desktop URL if possible. May well be me being thick though.

Elaborate on "high performance stuff" too, would help a lot

Assuming its this.

No, its bad, i3, 4gb RAM and no dedicated graphics card. You should be aiming for an i5, 6-8gb ram and a dedicated graphics card (950 series if you're looking to play newer games).

As someone who works for JL I can affirm it's a pretty powerful machine. High SSD storage, 8gb ram is the average for the entire laptop market, and ofc the i7 is a good choice.

The unit itself is a bit weird with the hinge on the lid; if you sit with the laptop on your lap it will be kinda painful after a while as the bar digs in :tongue:

I personally went for a higher-spec model of the Spectre x360, but it depends on what you want out of a machine :smile:

It depends on what you plan on doing. Anything can run photoshop. Just depends how well.

Spend more get more. I can run photoshop on a 5 year old PC I got for under 200GBP. Doesnt mean it runs it well, or rendering time is good, but it still runs well enough to be able to everything fine. Just slower.

An I7 is a bit much imo, I mean my gaming rig which can run most of the newest games at high with +60fps has a mid tier CPU.

Also, an I7 depends on a per model basis. I7 is not always better than I5, or i3. The newest i3 would probably be better than an older i7 sort of thing

The 500 GB SSD is good, but the graphics and processor is well below what you can usually expect for that price. It is pretty light though and the screen is high res.

Overall, for 'high perfomance stuff' this laptop is not great and also overpriced.

I personally use the lenovo y500 with the sli graphics card add-on and it runs most high end games at medium-high absolutely fine.

The lenovo y50 is the newer version of the one I have and has a better graphics card, processor + more ram.

Just saw you want to use it for photoshop. I currently do freelance graphic design on the side and use photoshop and illustrator on my laptop and it works smoothly, so I can only imagine it will be even better on the y50.

What will you be doing on it though? I mean my 150£ chromebook can run everything from watching movies to playing small indie games, and photo editing fine (with gimp). Does it make it a good choice if youre buying it primarily for editing? No. But it will work.

Decide on a budget and usage. An amount you feel comortable with spending. There is no perfect overall laptop. Choose a laptop that works for you.

If your priority editing video/photos/gaming, then prioritise having a Graphics card.

If you just want to watch movies and do word stuff on it, with the occasional photoshop, then stick to an I5 or something with a integrated graphics card

From what I've seen, it is a reasonably good machine. 8GB RAM is expected for most modern day laptops. An Intel Core i7 is usually a good choice; this one seems to be dual core rather than quad core though (but should still be powerful enough for the vast majority of things).

It is quite expensive though, at almost £900, and has no dedicated graphics card. Something that must be borne in mind if you wanted to play games on it. (Though from my experience, most integrated graphics cards are OK.)

Chances are, what is really pushing up the price on that laptop is the SSD (SSD's are quite expensive). Do you need the extra performance that an SSD offers? If so, then it is a good investment. If not, then mechanical hard drives are cheaper.

I must also mention, that at a 13.3 inch screen size, it's more suited to portability as well. I doubt it'd be noticeable that much between a 13 inch screen and a 15 inch screen (I've always used 15 inch screens) but I wouldn't personally want to go for a screen size any smaller.

Overall, it is a good laptop, though depending on what you need/require, you might be able to find something a bit cheaper.

"high performance stuff" is very vague

As some one who has built computers since the age of 10 (I am 21 now), I can advise you very well with computers.

Could you elaborate on what "high performance stuff" means ?
