'European Union faces African migrant crisis' Under-fire Merkel issues stark warning

ANGELA Merkel has warned the European Union (EU) faces a mass influx of African migrants but insisted it can deal with refugees fleeing Syria.

The under-fire German Chancellor yesterday said migration from Africa is the "central problem" the crumbling 28-member bloc faces.

She added that the EU "has to focus on Africa", pointing to a relatively slow rate of economic development in some African countries.

And she bizarrely claimed Brussels bureaucrats will "soon" be able to control the number of people arriving from war-torn Syria.

I'm in Germany at the moment at the mood is very ugly

People are not happy
Why are African economic migrants comparable with Syrian refugees? There reasons for coming are totally different and their rights to protection are different too.
But they are only trying to better themselves. We have no right to stop them.

Would you say that Merkel went way too far when it came to letting migrants in?

I ask this as initially the German people were behind it, and it feels like Merkel has used up all that good-will and then some.

Or is it just certain parts of Germany where immigration has had the biggest impact?

Finally? Do you have any numbers on how many migrants are now in Germany in the last few years?

Thanks in advance and best regards!
Francis
