How do I start a convo with a guy I like...while being a guy...

Ok so I've been using dating apps like hot or not, tinder and all so I've got a bunch of matches but I don't know how to start a convo with them. I feel like if I just say like hey or something they will ignore me straight away. I'm bi so for me to message a girl is easier but have got no clue how to go about this. Any advice would be great for those who have been there before.

I just want to speak to them like any other person but that never worked from previous experience and not really a fan of the sort of person who asks about nudes instantly. I guess I'm just romantic either way. :h:
