I am looking at a post graduate degree in Textile Design in Nottingham Trent University. I wish to know how faculty and student environment is, in general. Also, what is the ranking of the college and how are the placement prospects?

Hi Archana Konduru,

I can tell you a bit about the Textile Design Innovation course and the facilities we have. Ranking wise, we have recently been ranked as 5th in the UK for Fashion and Textiles by the 2017 Guardian League Table, which you can see for yourself below:

Guardian Fashion and Textiles 2017 League Tables

This Masters course is project based, so it is very much for students who have an idea of what they want to achieve and then we support with our expert academic and technical staff. You will have access to our extensive facilities (including print, weave, knit, embroidery etc. if that's what you would like to specialise in), with a mixture of traditional and digital machinery.

Also, as a postgraduate student, you will have access to a practice-based Art and Design MA studio where you can go work at, you will also have access to other workshops to use the specific textile design facilities. We also have our own specialist in-house art shop in the Bonington building which has a wide variety of arts and crafts materials.

For personal accounts of student experience from this course, we do have some student profiles which I'll link below for you to read:

Kirsty Harte

Amber Mae-Ling Thomas

In terms of placement prospects, you are supported by the course and our Employability Team to undertake one as part of the course, however you will need to source this yourself.

If you would like to see some of our Masters' students work we do have an exhibition event coming up where you could go along and see what kind of things students studying the course get up to. I'll link the event below:

Art and Design Masters Exhibition

I hope this has helped, but if you do have any other questions about the course just let me know :h:

Thanks,

Ellen
