Disqualify

Hi all,my friend was talking to me and said he had written few words on his hand and got caught by an invigilator, what do u think are the consequences?

He has looked at the JCQ web and it says possibility "Disqualification from whole qualification" or "Disqualification of whole subject in that series".If it does come to that, what does this actually mean? Can u resit your exams next year?Do u get a big 0 in all your exams in 2016 june? Thanks in advance!

If someone is caught intending to cheat/cheating then examiners do take it very seriously. This does not sound like an offence at the severe end of the scale and my guess, though it's only a guess based on previous experience, is that he will be disqualified from that paper. As he has seen from the jcq guidelines he could be disqualified from all exams with that examiner and even denied the opportunity to take exams for several years but that is reserved for fairly extreme cases. His school may also take separate action.

Thanks very much!,also he was in and out of school throughout the year because he had some sort of disease and his parent also was admitted to hospital, so he had pressure and what not that if he didn't do good then he would not get his university place next year.

I know of many people writing 1 or 2 words on their hand and getting away with it however their is a possibility of getting caught and having actions against you, matter of luck. Also I forgot to mention, this was in the first 5min of the exam so he could not do the paper since the teacher escorted him out. Therefore he has already got a 0 in that paper.

I have seen also on the jcq web that if u have difficulties at home then they reduce the penalty and u are able to resit the next year.Hopefully thats the case, btw he has done many exams and never cheated and never was caught cheating so that is posative i guess..

He should make sure he apologises and accepts that he has made a mistake. He should be given an opportunity to explain the pressure he's been under and that it's something he's never done before or would do again and I would hope no further action would be taken by the examiner. What the school may decide about continuing to study there and or resit exams is up to them.

Yup I will tell him that,it was also his last exam as well...I feel sorry for him but sometimes the pressure gets to you.(He was doing all maths and science a levels)It evens out that he got a 0 in the test because he wrote 2 equations on his hand which is not severe as pulling a mobile phone out however you never know.
Hopefully he gets the opportunity to resit. Also thank you for your help! I really appreciate it at this time.

We all make stupid mistakes and as terrible as it seems at the time things will work themselves out in the end.
He's lucky to have a friend supporting him through his troubles.
