Someone explain racial segregation on OITNB

    So in the show the whites stick to each other and the blacks with the blacks etc.. Now it appears to me all the non-white Americans have a mutual understanding and pretty much get on and if **** goes down back each other.

    Here is where I am confused, in the latino/hispanic group why do 50% appear to be black but fall into the latino/hispanic group? And technically aren't the rest of hispanics still white? Or does it only count if they are pure american white? Maybe I have read to much into it but I assume this is a good representation of prison in America in terms of racial divide.
