University Grade Help

Quick Simple Question?

Why for 2017 have Some Uni's got grade Ranges?

for example, even though i am not applying there, i was looking around for economic courses and noticed that queen marys:

2016 and previous Years Economics:AAA
from 2017: A*AA-AAA
Why is this? I have noticed This also for Bath and Nottingham that they have reduced entries for 2017 or have increased them and introduced a range of grades.

Thanks

The lower grades are those reserved for contextual offers - people from disadvantaged backgrounds, or who have a particularly desirable combination of subjects, for example. When a range is given, the highest one is the standard offer. Don't be misled into making a choice based on the lower ones. Any changes in the grades required are likely to reflect both the new A levels and the calibre of applicant they are looking to attract.
