I love that album, but 7 tracks (a couple of which are pretty mediocre) in 4 years? Come on Machine Head, you can do better. Nevertheless, Darkness Within has become a frequently listened to track for me
To be fair, instead of coming out with thirteen songs, of which six or seven of are of standard level (a certain Trivium album from last year comes to mind), they come out with seven thrash, epic tracks.

If you rush art such as Machine Head, you end up with a gooey mess on the floor (Supercharger). The last time I remember Machine Head making consecutive albums within short periods of time, they hired Luster as lead guitarist (and that worked, didn't it?).

I agree that I'd rather have 7 epic tracks than 13 standard level ones, but even Unto The Locust seemed rushed a little. E.g. The intro to Who We Are with the kids singing - that's a great idea and they could have expanded on that a lot more, but the way it cut straight into the heavy riff after all of 8 bars just made it seem like they'd thrown it together quickly. During interviews they said there was going to be a 12 minute track on that album but it never happened.

Basically, although they took 4 years, I actually think they left it and ended up rushing it at the last minute. It could have been a lot better. That's not to say it isn't a great album though Definitely better than anything they put out between Burn My eyes and The Blackening

I doubt anyone cares but Winterfylleth re-released The Ghost Of Heritage last month:

Apparently the bonus tracks are The Ruin and The Honour of Good Men on the Path to Eternal Glory which are on The Mercian Sphere...but apparently they were previously unreleased so I guess they're older recordings than on TMS.

They'll probably play "Void of Light" which is apparently a new song. They've only been getting half hour set recently but they still play it...from what I've read, anyway.

I just want the new album naoo.

New Wodensthrone is quite good. There's some really nice music on it, though (like Loss) I think it drags a bit in places. I hear more Emperor in it than I remember noticing in Loss. I think that might be in part due to the production.

I keep meaning to give Loss a full run through some time. I've listened to a few tracks and really like it.
But I usually get distracted by Askival videos.

I find Loss starts really well, the first few tracks are great, then it starts dragging by the second half of the album. They got rid of their vocalist as well (he was hilarious at gigs, completely stoic and deadpan throughout, looked like he was waiting for a bus all gig).

Bank Holiday weekend of win ahead, D666/Grave Miasma tonight, Primordial/Winterfylleth tomorrow and then a free all dayer on Sunday if I'm still alive.

Aren't Hell also on the Primordial tour? They're certainly a long shot than Winter-boring-fylleth.

    Thread is a br00tality contest.

Start a discussion on some other metal? Or 'rock', seeing as this is the "Rock and Metal Society"

Hey, is any one here selling any amps, or knows someone that is, Looking for either a Peavey 5150, Peavey 6505, any kind of ENGL that isn't the screamer, a Mesa Rectifier or Road King.

I am using the ENGL fireball with an orange 2x12 cab and my mate has this kind of meh Line 6 Spider IV head and a crappy Line 6 cab, don't mix well hehe.

Ebay is shot for any Peavey amps, people go overboard with pricing Mesa's, and gumtree has no ENGL's or Mesa's at the mo, and Peavey are a couple of hundred out of a reasonable price bracked.

    Thanks

    - S

It's more just that the only people that bother sharing new and/or good bands are generally fans of extreme metal, and are genuine fans of music in general, as opposed to half hearted 'LED ZEPPEL RULE, I AM SO INTO REAL ROCK' types. ;p
