Umm, Darkest Hour, Shadows Fall, In Flames, Amon Amarth off the top of my head.
None of those bands are like Lamb Of God. As it has been said nothing really sounds like them. It is cheesy but they are just about the only band that sound like that. Having said that aside from Shadows Fall they are all quite good bands, not a huge fan of In Flames but i love the other two. Depends on whether you like melodic death metal or not.

The closest thing I can think of to Lamb Of God is The Autumn Offering. They are really a band to check out. Failing that try something like Unearth, still labelled as metalcore cos of the breakdowns but they are heading towards the traditional metal sound. Chimaira are not too dissimilar but their early work is metalcore and 'Resurrection' is going down a different path too. Especially the last song and the black metal-esque opening. I thought it was a Dimmu Borgir song but deffo check out the self titled album

What does everyone think of the new Darkest Hour album? It has grown on me. I now actually think as an album it is stronger than Undoing Ruin but there are more standout tracks on Undoing Ruin. My worry is that hearing songs like 'A Paradox With Flies' that they are going to go down a metalcore route..... I don't mind the clean vocals, that song is good, but I prefer the classic DH sound. Mind you still prefer Facing The Thousand by Light This City.... Laura Nichol is soooo good....

Yeah, that list really can't be taken as a recommendation list. Recommending Strapping Young Lad for Lamb Of God is like recommending a pint of Guinness for cat piss.

Looking through the list though, I would say Byzantine are pretty close. I don't know alot of the bands on there though.
You like Byzantine?! Finally, someone who has actually heard of them! You're the best!

Can anyone suggest any bands that are similar to Lamb of God, Machine Head's latest album (not heard too much of their older stuff) and Devildriver?
In Flames aint all that similar to Lamb Of God to be honest. Try Slayer or Pantera. If you like Machine Head then you owe it to yourself to get their "Burn My Eyes" debut. Chimaira are a good bet, yeah. Also there are a good new british band called Malefice that no one has heard of yet that you may like

Pantera are a staple listen of any metal fan! They set the benchmark for so many of the modern bands.

Oh i got more bands for Xulfer! Try Ill Disposed (1-800 vindication album is awesome), Arch Enemy (not exactly LoG style but top notch metal that you may like), Himsa and The Agony Scene.

Found out hardeep.arora likes Killswitch too so could be getting somewhere with the metal thing . Has anyone else got Frozen In Time by Obituary? (Just cause akmd mentioned them)

I don't have the album but I've heard On The Floor and Insane from the album. They're both pretty decent. Cause Of Death is my favourite Obituary album.

Bah I was just typing out a message and I pressed something by mistake and it vanished and refreshed the page. Oh well.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions guys. I've been listening to some of the bands you guys have suggested. Unearth seem pretty good, as do Chimaira. I already liked Pantera but Slayer are a bit fast for me really (cept for Raining Blood, that's just great).

I understand all the genre differences from extensive wikipedia searching, and whilst metalcore seems pretty good, as does melodic death metal, neither of them are like Lamb of God :p: I don't seem to get the "OMG this song is so good" feeling that I do when listening to certain LoG tracks like Blacken the Cursed Sun, or anything from Sacrament really. They seem to have a nice cross between groove metal and metalcore. I dunno, I can't describe what I like about it and what I don't about metalcore, but I can just feel it. Metalcore seems a bit fast, but I don't mean I want really slow music. Maybe it's too "hardcore" or whatever.

Having said that, it takes me a while to really like a band usually, more than a few listens, so maybe I just need to keep listening.

Slayer too fast? Try Megadeth instead.

Not me! Never liked Pantera. But I'd agree with the benchmark comment.

Yeah, I've got it (got them all actually, which is strange beacuse I don't like Obituary that much). It's pretty good, but I'd have to go with akm on Cause Of Death being best, and I'd put Slowly We Rot second.

Lamb Of God struck me as a new version of thrash. Like a new version of Pantera's new version of thrash. I think that it's guaranteed to catch on, but there aren't many exact imitators about yet (although I could be totally wrong here, I don't know an awful lot about this area of music).

what was beneath the stars eh? Light This City are apparently maybe coming to Europe this year... finally... so if that happens we must go and see that. I bet if they do tour here they will go to Glasgow

Have you actually heard much of their work? I get the impression you have only heard Maddening Swarm which is the worst song on Facing The Thousand.

If you mean the likes of Black Flag, Social Distortion, Misfits, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies, Minor Threat, Ramones etc, I don't see why not.

Dude, take a guess about the stars, it's not too hard to work out
Just messaged them begging them to come to Aberdeen, though in my desperation i may have said we'd help promote the gig... Don't kill me please!

I've heard Maddening Swarm which i loved and the songs from Myspace (Exile, Cradle For A King, The Static Masses etc)

Yeah, they're two of the best songs on the album. It's great for headbanging to in Asda

Lol i always refresh my messages, you wouldn't believe how pissed off i get.

Which Unearth and Chimaira albums did you listen to? Cause they change their sound around quite a bit. Angel of Death by Slayer - classic song!!!

Ok so it's recent Lamb Of God you're into? You got any of the earlier stuff? Sacrement is an awesome album but Ashes of the Wake is at least as good. So you want straight up metal, with less hardcore? And not too fast? Try Killing Peace by Onslaught, it's pretty thrashy. Or Immersed by Sinai Beach, dunno if they're quite your thing but worth a shot.
And don't any of you let Malefice slip through your fingers!

Yes, those two albums are exactly similar in sound. The title Frozen In Time is meant to refer to Obituary's sound, i.e. that it has not changed over the years (although I disagree, one of the middle albums sounds almost as gay as The Haunted).

That's the only Byzantine album I've got aswell.
