This was the bridesmaid's dress I wore to my mum's wedding earlier this year. I wouldn't mind something similar to this as my wedding dress but in purple though my heart is still very fond of this purple dress :tongue:

still too early to ever order a wedding dress though. Its fun looking :h:

Indian fam, so white is the colour of mourning (and also looks disgusting on me).
I'd probably go with either a red or some other jewel tone - maybe a dark green? Because emerald is my birth stone. With luck, my partner's birthstone would be a complimentary colour and we could incorporate the other's colour into our own outfit and it would be disgustingly sweet. (My general aim with a wedding celebration would be disgustingly sweet and happy and a little bit soppy, within reason). I have some traditional gold jewellery that my mum/dad will probably want me to wear (and I won't say no to because it's very sentimental and sweet and it means a lot to them), so the dress will likely have to work with gold... at the same time, I really don't want to spend more than £150 on a dress (I'm cheap af woops) so charity shops and getting things altered are definitely in my somewhat-distant future!

TL;DR - I am far too young to have thought about this as much as I have, especially since I've never had a significant other.

Yes I would.

There's a wedding dress boutique in Glasgow that specialises in colorful wedding dresses as well as traditional wedding dresses so I've booked myself an appointment for next week for a consultation. I'm going to be up in Glasgow that day anyway so thought I'd be a good idea to pop in and get a rough idea of prices and things :smile:

This dress is lovely and I'm sure it looked beautiful in a deep blue :smile:

this is similar to what I would want but I don't know if I would suit a dress with no kind of straps. I'm a bit self conscious about my shoulders :colondollar:

Different from traditional white without being too "stand out-ish" but still beautifully elegant.

Although I will deliberately prevent myself from taking it any further and actually looking for the 'perfect dress' because otherwise it will just put obsessively fantastical girly thoughts in my head. :tongue:

Wear what makes you happy, if you want to go for traditional white, go for that, if you fancy something different that's great too. At the end of the day, you gotta do what makes you happy and is your desire.

For me personally, white isn't what I'd do,I don't like the symbolism in it and I am porcelain coloured myself so a wee bit of colour wouldn;t go amiss. I think I'll wear this beautiful blue vintage 50s dress I bought for my boyfriend's graduation, it has a v-shaped neckline, has blue straps, nips in tight at the waist and flares into a large hoop skirt. Very January Jones Mad Men circa season 1 :smile:

I went to the wedding dress boutique and lets just say my choice to wear purple didn't go down well with the shop assistant :laugh:

I did try on some white and ivory dresses but it wasn't for me. I had a look at their purple coloured bridesmaids dresses but they were more lilac and I'm wanting more of a deep purple as I want it to match the colour of my partner's kilt that he'll be wearing which will be this tartan

I'm enjoying wedding planning atm. Its nice that its not too close but not too far away either. We have narrowed it down to 3 locations now and some are wanting very advance notice so we need to decide fully soon

If I ever get married I'll want a full 3 day Asian wedding, so many be a traditional Asian dress one day and a traditional English dress another, just for a statement to people I know.

You'd expect an assistant to be happy with whatever a bride wants, sorry that you got one that was so rubbish. So you want to go for like a cadbury purple colour then? :smile:

Lilac does seem to be the more popular colour, ebay has loads in dark purples but its always up to you if you think that's a bit risky or not, i m sure you'll have find exactly what you're after in time :smile:

Yeah I've found a few dresses online that I like and they range from about £70 to £150 so they aren't too expensive so I might buy them in the future to see what they are like if they aren't as good as I'd hoped, I can always return them. My mum got her wedding dress and my bridesmaids dress from amazon and we had no problems and the dresses were lovely but you do have to be careful when you buy online. I've seen so many horror stories about buying dresses online :colondollar:

It's the purple i want as a wedding theme, took a bit of looking to find out what on earth people call it:P You're right you can find some great stuff online, my mums wedding dress was from ebay and it was beautiful and only £100. But yes you do have to be careful,there's loads of websites with tips to avoid horror stories but i think if you find someone with brilliant feedback and a uk seller, fingers crossed you'll have a good experience.
