    You should only have to say it once. Avoid repetition wherever possible, unless you have a good reason to refer to the point again.

    Repetition in terms of content: You should only have to make one point once, though you can refer back to it further on in the essay
    Repetition in terms of individual words: Never repeat words like "shows" e.ct. Words which relate to the text, "author" e.ct, can be repeated

    Depends what the effect of using is and where used, i.e. poetry etc...
