A-Level Choice for Certain Career?!

Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016

I'm currently starting A-Levels in September and I do have in mind what I wanted to do. I wanted to do Accountancy and eventually open up a hotel.

I'm not sure what A-Levels to do that will suit both careers.

I was thinking, Maths and Economics for Accountancy. Business for the hotel aspects but I don't know what would help further as an extra A-Level. Also I didn't know what would be best to pursue at university, Accountancy and Finance or Hospitality?

Really stuck! Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Accountancy requires formal qualifications, opening a hotel doesn't - anyone can do it. So follow the maths > accountancy route and let the hotel side of things develop through practical experience.

Accountancy and being a hotelier are two completely different careers. Being an accountant won't necessarily give you the skills required to run a hotel, other than being able to do the books.

If being a hotelier is the end goal, then work towards that. To me, it is certainly much more rewarding than sitting behind a desk looking at endless numbers, but then I enjoy interacting with the public.

Don't base all your choices around one career, what if later on you suddenly decide to do something else?? Broaden out your options more. Say if you enjoy writing or could even consider doing journalism, then take English and maybe do a science and then you'll have an open career path in the future.
