Austria held a presidential run-off election on May 22nd between Greens candidate Alexander Van der Bellen and the Freedom Party's candidate Norbert Hofer. For the first time since World War II, neither of Austria's two main centrist parties had a candidate in the second round of the presidential election. Van der Bellen won the election by just 30,863 votes. However the FPÖ challenged the results in the Constitutional Court of Austria, citing irregularities in the counting of postal ballots. On Friday, the court upheld the challenge and ordered a re-run of the election. Hofer has stated that he would prefer to reform the European Union (EU) from within than to leave, but has stated that if his demands were not met, he would seek to call an 'Auxit' referendum. The election is now expected to be held on September 25th or October 2nd.

How do people see this playing out? Seems like it could easily go either way. If Hofer won it'd be the first far-right president in the EU. He's a bit of an eccentric characted too, carrying around a Glock pistol while he campaigns.
