So I was aware that this boy at school, liked me, and when he asked me to prom he made a big thing of it that was really sweet so I said yes. Prom was great (a bit awkward). He got me a corsage that matched my dress and everything. The only issue was that due to an accident he is stuck at home. I visited him before the event but I don't know whether to visit him now. I don't want to lead him on as I'm not attracted to him and I don't want him to ask me out and then be upset if I say no. I'm going to a different school soon, so I won't see him much after the summer. My mum says I'm being mean and spiteful by not visiting him after he has done so much for me.....

I really don't know what to do.

I am going to sound very harsh. However, if he does like you then there will be no way that you would not be able to hurt him. Sadly, however it would be much better for him to know as early as possible because by keeping his hopes up in a way you stop him to move on.

On top of that I really do not believe you should say yes just because you feel sorry for him. This will just make it even worse. You cannot force yourself to be with someone because it may just destroy both of your life's. However, you can always give it a try. Everything is possible and sometimes we become attracted to people we least expect.

I can also see where your mum is coming from however you also don't want to get his hopes up. Maybe visit him one more time, I am not sure to be honest. In the end of the day we can give you all the advise but you will be the one that needs to make the decision and follow your heart.
