Vegetables in the legume family are highly nutritious and taste best when pickd fresh

    They are packed with protein, which is two or three times that of rice or wheat and they’re an excellent source of nutrients including iron and various B vitamins.

    It’s no wonder then, that they are so popular with vegetable growers in the UK, who know that legumes are both easy and productive crops to grow.

    At this time of year many of us will have already enjoyed our own freshly picked peas, broad beans and French beans. Some may have even harvested their runner beans.
