Oh, cool! I think I'm going to switch from 100% Egyptology to 75% after the first year, and will hopefully do the language side more, but I think I'll be terrible at it . . .

Eh don't worry, I'm pretty sure everyone will be at almost the same level (complete novices) I'm quite excited about it myself, I did a little translating on one of the student days and found it quite fun. Classical languages on the other hand...I had one basic lesson of Ancient Greek on another university day and didn't understand any of it, it really muddled my brain lol. I've been helping run a Latin club for the past two years so I'm not as terrible at that, but we were completely winging it so I'm at basic primary school level Latin

I think I have found my people! I started drinking for the first time ever at 19, and I feel like the novelty of it was wasted on me because I was a bit too old to find any sort of fascination with it, since most people start experiencing alcohol at what? Like, 14 or 15? As a 14 year old I would have thought it was the greatest thing in the world no doubt, haha!

I'm 21 now and I do drink, but very rarely and very casually! I'm a bit scared at the possibility of being surrounded by mental binge drinking 18 year olds for the first month of university (at least)... Hmmmmmm

Hopefully see you guys around, anyhow!

I can't drink anymore for medical reasons and no longer particularly enjoy clubbing anymore as I feel like I'm past that point in my life. I know that freshers is mainly about drinking and im not adverse to going out a couple of times in freshers, I just wont drink. I'm quite a sociable person and quite enjoy meeting new people and I'm hoping to make some great friends at uni. I was just wondering if there where any like minded people who will be coming to Liverpool in September who aren't particularly fond of drinking/can't drink? I will be staying in Rankin hall in Carnatic

yes! i don't drink just because i don't like to, and clubbing was never really for me. i don't know where i'm staying yet but i'd love to make some friends who also don't drink/club  i'm not the most sociable of people just because it scares the **** out of me, but i'm not averse to going out sometimes if i have like-minded people to go with

I don't club or drink but I'll probably still have more fun exploring the city instead. I'll be staying at Rankin Hall in Carnatic too, I hope it's good cause the gallery seemed really vague.
I'm doing Chemistry, living at home and not that big of a party person either!! PM me if anyone is similar.

Sweet! I've actually just chosen medicinal chem as my optional module for the first semester so we'd probably bump into each other there  are you staying in halls or commuting?

I'm commuting from seaforth  im 28 so already live in the city and am quite settled.
Cant wait to begin though! Glad to have found someone else on my course! I will hopefully bump into you on welcome week!
Feel free to message me if you want.

Is anyone going to any welcome week events? I feel like I'm going to miss out because I'm probably not going to be able to go to any because they all run till eleven or after and I won't be able to commute home
I was dreading this when i started university last year. I guess some people were a bit suprised that I dont drink but I never had problems really. We socialised and it was all good. You dont have to go clubbing either, I didnt for the whole year and got along with people just fine.

Dont feel like you have to drink to fit in, if you do you are around the wrong people, a lot of drinkers at uni wont really care that you dont too. Just thought I would let you know because I was worried about this myself last year 😊.

Well i quit drinking over the summer, but now it's a week before freshers and all the people i know are going to pretty much every event, it's gonna be hard i reckon! Hope my flat has some non-clubbers too. @Norozac, Exploring city is more my thing too!

I know right? XD Oh my gosh good luck! Hopefully you have some of those. All of mine literally club and drink ~.~ I have no problem with it personally just hope they don't think I'm a buzzkill x') I heard they have a planetarium and aquarium in Liverpool, I'm quite keen to find it!! Gonna go to the cinema and watch movies there for now though xD Good luck again this year~

I'm not even really thinking about going to any of the evening events, just possibly a couple of the non drinking orientated ones! Also as I'm commuting I don't even have flat mates to worry about hahha. I think as uni gets on and we do more stuff it should be no problem meeting like-minded people
