For my English language coursework,I have to write 2,500-3,500 words on a topic and I picked Language and Gender. My coursework title is, “Does language in the media suggest that society isstill patriarchal today?” could anyone help me come up with research and datato write about which agrees or disagrees with this? Thanks J

The topic of the media is much too broad to investigate. You need to narrow down your research to a specific peice of media for example men's/women's magazines or advertisements and a specific topic of media. When I did my coursework I faced the same problem, I was looking at attitudes to women in magazines but even that was too broad. I narrowed it down even further to sanitary towel advertisements and selected a few throughout the decades to see if attitudes had changed. I analysed language in all texts (I think I had around 7/8 from the 1930s to 2015) looking for anything that indicated negative attitudes.
