LPC Help

Hey, you guys!

I'll be starting my LPC this year, and I'd love some advice on what to do, and well what not to do. I'll try my best to organise my questions well:

1) What should I expect during the LPC?
2) How do I prepare for it best to ensure that I get the topmost grade?
3) What is the sort of extracurriculars available for me to pursue during the LPC?
4) I've heard of pro bono legal clinics and the like, how do I involve myself in it?
5) Will there be time to balance the LPC course and these extracurriculars?
6) Are mooting or debating things that will be offered for the students to participate in through the course or is the LPC devoid of it?

Thanks a ton you guys! Sorry for being so pedantic. If it helps, I'll be doing the MA (LPC with Business) at BPP, and I have a training contract (hence I wouldn't have to allocate time for applications and I can focus on the course + extracurriculars through and through).

Look at the LPC providers' websites for this. From what I can remember BPP has an MA you can convert it to, Uni of Law has an LLM or MSc and City also has an LLM.

I have no idea. But why would you want to do that?
I have done a standalone LLM, but I see little value in having the "LLM" title in and of itself, and I don't think employers see the value of an LLM in and of itself either.

The benefit of the LLM for me was because I loved the particular area of law I was able to study and I was able to get practical and very specific experience in that area during the LLM too. That experience is something that an LPC LLM is not able to give you. All you're doing is taking an extra module or so (at least at Uni of Law/City). That specialist experience you get in an area purely because you're interested in it, which in my opinion is what LLMs should be for, isn't there with an LPC LLM.

You're getting an MA anyway, so you'll be getting a master's degree. What's the difference between taking an extra module to get an MA, or taking a different extra module to get an LLM? That extra module won't change your life and so getting an LLM wouldn't add anything that an MA couldn't give you in this circumstance.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

EDIT: Just went on the BPP website - look a their LLM program, you can convert the LPC to an LLM within 15 weeks after you complete the LPC. Don't know if with your TC you have time for that, but if you really want an LLM, maybe go for it. Just note the LPC LLM is an LLM in Professional Legal Practice - essentially a master's degree in LPC. You should probably ask how beneficial that is and whether BPP are just using it to attract people.
