I put my laptop onto the TV via HDMI and after 10 mins the laptop screen comes back on and the TV off

Don't really want to keep touching the laptop every 10 mins to refresh

    How can I avoid this?

It might be because of the screen inactivity/timeout. It's because you're leaving it on without touching it so it assumes you aren't using it and turns the screen off, disconnecting from the tv and therefore waking it.

That should help if its your issue.

    It might not be though.

Possibly the cable/port. The above posters theory could also be true. Try on a different tv and see if you get the same issue

If it's consistently every 10 minutes it's most likely a timeout issue. My guess is your TV thinks nothing is going on and automatically turns off after 10 minutes. Look for settings to adjust the power saving. Otherwise look for the same on your laptop.

Instead of using the TV as the only monitor, consider using the TV as a mirrored monitor instead. The laptop screen will still be used and the TV will mirror whatever is on the laptop.
