HELP! Confusion on resits and credits.

I passed my english and communications modules which are worth 80 credits, but failed my spanish modules, worth 20 credits each. I am resitting the spanish modules, if I fail them again, will I be stopped from progressing to second year with my English and communications course and just have to resit the entire year, or can i continue on to second year with English and resit the first year spanish modules alongside it? Also do i need to pass both Spanish modules to proceed or just one?? Any help would be appreciated
