Biology Chemistry (Physics to be added) Final Predictions OCR AS

Do not worry.
The grade boundaries should be low this year.
This is based on mean percentages of exams over the last 5 years.
Note that as this exam is linear, grade boundaries should be very very lower.
Lower than mine.

Every paper means Breadth and Depth put together.

BIOLOGY
For an A = 96
Average on every paper = 48/70
For an B = 86
Average on every paper = 43/70
For an C = 74
Average on every paper = 37/70

CHEMISTRY
For an A = 102
Average on every paper = 51/70
For an B = 92
Average on every paper = 46/70
For an C = 80
Average on every paper = 40/70

Ask me for any answers to your questions or moral advice.
Good luck!

I really hope you're right about Chemistry

I think the grade boundaries for this would be high... Considering past papers were much harder and the questions in this paper were pretty straight forward.

I would think opposite.
The linearility of the specification makes it harder to revise in one go.
New Multiple choice questions also throw people off the scent.
The questions were also different, including the applied question at the end.
Lack of training for teachers for the new specs.
Lack of sufficient material such as MCQ and practical questions.

I could go on and on and on.
But yeah.

I would love to agree with you but I just don't feel it in my gut.

- Predicitions for the second paper were on point.
- MCQ in the specimen paper were much harder.
- I would say the specimen paper being difficult pushed us to revise even harder
- The applied q at the end of paper 2 was similar to one I had seen in a past paper
- Lack of training..? Err well content was pretty much the same.

If there is a paper I was worried about all summer it was chem.. Pretty much everyone came out the hall saying it was a good paper. It had got me worried about the boundaries being high af.

Any ways I'll stop considering boundaries would be coming out tomorrow so no need in speculating.

It's still linearity which is the problem.
I mean if you look at EdExcel GCSE maths, you'd see that the boundaries are incredibly low by far.

Yeah we can see.
I still think however it will be lower than you think because they have to cut slack on new grade boundaries.

Trust me, you'll be fine.
Wish you luck.
man...i bloody well hope your right about the chemistry grade boundaries..i need an A so bad

Ahh now that's a different point. With the linearity I think that would make a difference next year with grade boundaries being lower - but this year I doubt it.

Btw do AS exams we sit next year count 20%? We're sitting only 3 papers right.

Likewise, wish you the best

Historically it's always been lowered.
Never mind, we will see.

I don't think we sit AS papers... Idk actually.

I just don't want to put my hopes up high.

We sit a unified paper... Which combines all of AS and A2. As for the other papers I'm not sure. Might search it up now.
One paper will have module 1,2,3,5 and one will have 1,2,4,6. 1,2,3,4 are AS. 5,6 are A2. And the last paper will have all modules covered

Official grade boundaries are so low.. I was expecting them to be lower, but Biology in particular with 59% and 61% for an A respectively does make me feel a lot more woried for some reason.

Don't think so.
I think the new content was harder to explain.
Still the first paper was fine but the second paper felt justified.

I agree. Hopefully a minimum B grade is secured for Biology and Chemistry then, fingers crossed!

The results are normalised. If you worked hard enough to get the grade you want, you'll get it.

No I know, but at least try to encourage people rather than giving them a bleak reality please. This is for others, not myself.

At this stage there is no point. People either worked hard enough or didn't. What's done is done.
