So, I recently sat the Leaving Certificate in the Republic of Ireland and would like an opportunity to apply to Oxford to study PPE.

However, my grades are below the entrance requirements for the course.

So should I apply and see what happens or would this be a waste of time?
In general, does Oxford ever accept students that apply with grades below the entrance requirements?

    Do not apply.
Oxford always gives the advantage to the students that have grades above the requirements. It would be just a waste of 1 choice in your UCAS form. I am sure that you can get in at a good Russel group uni.

It would be a wast of time. Your chances of getting in are 0.05*the acceptance rate of your course.

Just trying to give you a friendly advice. Please do not interpret it wron.
    Good luck!

If your a level equivalents are below then not really, you need the minimum requirements.

They are unlikely to accept you with below-requirement grades without some reasonable explanation; if there were any extenuating circumstances or you have done something else exceptional then perhaps call the admissions department and talk to them about your chances (although probably wait a week or so, given that it's A Level results day!)
