    Hi all,

I wonder if any of you might be able to help!

I am currently completing my MSc dissertation and I was just wondering if a demographics table should definitely go in the results section or can it be included as part of the appendix?

I have tried to put it in my results sections but I am finding it is taking a lot of words up from my word count due to the number of participants which is limiting me in reporting my actual results.

I suppose the other alternative would be to simply describe demographics in a paragraph.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

You can describe the demographics in a para and put the table as an appendix. Are you sure tables count towards your word count?

I think that's what I might have to do. So if I have a paragraph describing demographics and then say something like (Refer to Appendice 1), that will be sufficient? I wouldn't be marked down for that?

Yes apparently so, if they are included in the main body of the text anyway. I was given conflicting answers, some saying it doesn't count towards word count which included my supervisor but others are saying it definitely does so I am assuming it is better to stay on the safe side...

It's a qualitative study otherwise it wouldn't of mattered so much to me.

Your course handbook or director should be able to clarify.
